Why C-Coach?
At C-Coach, we believe that the true essence of organisational success lies not only in understanding the “what” of technical and process requirements but in mastering the “how” of human interactions and behaviours. Our journey stems from a profound realisation: while many organisations are clear about what needs to be done, the magic sauce – the human factors that drive excellence – is often missing.
Our founder, with extensive experience in various organisational settings, noticed a recurring gap. Companies excelled at defining technical requirements and delivery expectations, but they frequently overlooked the essential behaviours and soft skills that optimise interactions internally and with customers. These behaviours—trust, integrity, effective communication, and leadership to name a few —are crucial for getting the best out of individuals and teams.
The Beautiful Dance of Being Human
Success in business is not just about technical prowess. The best technicians are often those who combine their technical knowledge with exceptional human skills, working brilliantly with others. Unfortunately, many businesses place technicians in management roles without providing the necessary development to foster these soft skills. This mismatch can lead to the detriment of individuals, teams, and the organisation as a whole.
Traditional approaches to upskilling work well for technical and process development, where people learn new information without personal attachment. However, this approach falls short for soft skills development, where individuals bring a lifetime of experiences and ingrained behaviours. These experiences can be both strengths and weaknesses, and often, people don’t know what they don’t know.
The DISAM Model: A Path to Self-Awareness and Growth
Changing skills and behaviours requires a different approach. Our DISAM model (Define, Identify, Set, Action, Measure) equips individuals to navigate this process, reflecting the conscious and unconscious aspects of competence. We help individuals become self-aware about their current skills and competencies and then expand their understanding to include new areas of growth.
The DISAM process empowers both individuals and managers to identify what needs to change to unlock performance, confidence, and well-being. Personal development, while theoretically brilliant, often falters in practice. People sign up for development opportunities with the best intentions but struggle to follow through without proper support.
Creating a Supportive Development Environment
Personal development works best when individuals can clearly identify where to focus their efforts to achieve their goals. However, even then, success is most likely when supported by a manager who understands the individual, their focus, and how to support them. This involves observing, encouraging, and providing opportunities to practice new skills. We all need support—”when more than one believes, it will be so.”
C-Coach was born to help individuals help themselves and equip managers to know their people and how to support them effectively. By making this connection seamless, supported, and expected, we create an environment of continual growth and support. This delivers amazing experiences and growth for employees, customers, and businesses alike.
Root Cause Not Symptoms
Organisations have implemented many people processes and continue to invest heavily in initiatives with the hope of increasing productivity, loyalty, and wellbeing in their people to drive business results. Most of these processes are treating symptoms and not causes. They cost time, add complexity, and create distractions, and there is little evidence they drive the results they are designed to affect. C-Coach equips organisations with a single point of focus that increases these very outcomes.
At C-Coach, we believe in the power of human potential and the impact it can have on organisational success. Join us on this journey to create a better, more supportive, and high-performing workplace.
